History
As part of the Intermix Media team that helped fuel the rapid growth of MySpace and its acquisition by 20th Century Fox in 2005 for $580 million, founder Bob Dashtizad established Sonar Media in 2006 to provide digital media strategy for VC backed startups and traditional media agencies who wanted to emulate Intermix's historic success. We found there was an incredible appetite among brands and agencies to capitalize on a new medium that was rapidly changing the way consumers lived their daily lives. And the digital medium still continues to evolve with new technology that is constantly being introduced to the marketplace.
The proliferation of affordable, high-speed WiFi in North America fueled the explosion of video consumed on laptops, tablets, mobile and Smart TVs. By 2014, the desktop centric world of Web 1.0 and 2.0 had matured into the omni-screen world that we live in today. The modern consumer is now empowered to do whatever they want, whenever and wherever they want to. Whether its watching their favorite show, finding their next job or ordering a car service - consumers expectations of brands have never been higher. Marketing tactics that worked 10 years ago are no longer effective. Disruption has since become the norm, and those that have eagerly embraced this new reality it have been the most successful.
